I was never a fan of the Grand-Am Series, but I will have to watch the races this year to see how the new prototype will do.

What a great car. I am so glad to see GM putting a prototype Corvette on the racetrack. Nice to hear that it sounds like a Corvette too...has that same low growl to the engine that the GT LeMans Class cars have.

At the end of the first leg of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype (DP) has proven that it has what it takes to not only be a competitor, but to lead this race. Jan Magnussen and Olvier Gavin (of Corvette Racing) piloted the No. 90 "Spirit of Daytona" Corvette to first place, and managed to keep the car leading the field for quite some time. While the race is far from over, it has been great to see both the No. 90 and the No. 99 DP Corvettes(driven by Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty) leading the field. Unfortunately, the No. 10 Suntrust Corvette suffered mechanical issues early on and was forced to retire from the race after running just a few, short laps. While this setback is certainly frustrating for all involved, it has not been a reflection of the overall quality of the DP Corvette which continues to rally for a victory as the race pushes into its second 8 hour stint. As the sun rises on Daytona tomorrow morning, it will be exciting to see where the remaining DP Corvettes stand. We hope, and fully expect, that it will be one of these teams that takes the top place on the podium as the 24 Hours of Daytona draws to a close on Sunday afternoon. Attachments:
