help anyone know the best way to change the inner tie rods on a rack and pinnion

Here are the steps for removal and installation: REMOVAL: 1.) Remove the shock dampener ring from the inner tie rod housing and slide it back on the rack. 2.) Put a wrench on the rack flat to prevent damage when removing the tie rod. 3.) Put a second wrench on the tie rod pivot housing flats 4.) Turn the housing counter-clockwise until the tie rod assembly separates from the rack. INSTALL: 1.) Bottom the tie rod assembly on the rack. 2.) Torque housing. (Use a wrench on rack to avoid internal gear damage). 3.) Support the rack and housing and stake the tie rod housing to the rack flat. (Stake both sides.) 4.) Inspect the stake. A .25 millimeter (.010 inch) feeler gage must not pass between the rack and housing stake on either side. 5.) Slide the shock dampener over the inner tie rod housing until it engages.
