Ask This year’s award goes to Erin Kelly and Phyllis Moen, for their article addressing overload at work, published in the summer of MIT Sloan Management Review. The article addresses issues that lead to significantly higher levels of employee stress, dissatisfaction, turnover, and burnout and can reduce work quality. Kelley, Distinguished Professor of Work and Organizational Studies at MIT's Sloan School of Management, and Moen, McKnight Chancellor's Chair in Sociology at the University of Minnesota, conducted a five-year study in a wealth-rich company. Half of the teams and their managers selected for the study received coaching and then were allowed to redesign their work collectively without supervision.
