Hi,
Great site BTW and I hope the database takes off
You’ll guess from my username that I’m based in England. I have C5 Coupe, which was built for export and whilst I can get some useful data from the Black Book, it doesn’t really tell me how unique my car is
So here are my questions
My car is a 2002 European Export Specification C5, in Electron Blue.
Over the period that Electron Blue was a color option, how many Coupes were built for Europe?
How many of these were fitted with Auto Transmission?
How many of Automatic transmission models were built with the Light Oak interior option?
Based on the above combinations, how many of these were built during each year that the Electron Blue color option was available?
Thanks in advance for your help

Okay, you've asked some really good questions and, while I wish I could say we've completed the research, the truth is we are still working on it. That said, I can tell you we've made some good progress and, as of right now, we are in the process of cross-checking the information we have found so far. We will post it shortly. In the meantime, please know that we've taken your questions as sort of a "personal challenge" and that we look forward to providing you with a complete and accurate answer that will, hopefully, provide you with everything you've been looking for. Thanks for your patience! Scott - CorvetteGuy www.corvsport.com

Well, Scott being as you have taken up the challenge, I look forward to your results However, you may have created a monster by taking this up, because when I tell all my English buddies at the Corvette Club UK, you may have a few more requests like mine, in all of the varous color options....

Okay, the hunt is still on, but it's been awhile since I've reported back on this and I wanted to share with you what we've uncovered so far. We WILL eventually get you complete answers to your questions, but I thought this might be useful to you while you wait on the rest.
While we haven't had much luck determining what percentage of Corvettes were exported to Europe (that information is part of what we continue to search for), we do know the percentages for the total number of Corvettes built in 2002 that met each of your criteria. Just looking at the individual percentages for each category will give you an appreciation for the rarety of your car.
Here goes:
In 2002, a total of 5,407 Corvettes were painted Electron Blue, which equals 15.12% of all Corvettes built that year. However, only 6.21% of the Coupes built that year were painted Electron Blue.
Similarly, a total of 5,317 Corvettes were built with a Light Oak Interior in 2002, which accounted for 14.87% of all Corvette interiors (Coupe, Convertible, and Z06). However, only 6.10% of the Coupes built in 2002 featured the Light Oak Interior.
Lastly (at least for now) of all the Corvettes built in 2002, 18,917 of them included automatic transmissions, which works out to 52.89% of all Corvettes built in 2002 (or just over half.)
We have these same statistics for 2003 (for all Corvettes built with the Electron Blue exterior/Light Oak interior) and we will compile that data together with the 2002 Corvette's data to give you a complete picture of how many Corvettes TOTAL were built with each of these characteristics. We will provide that if you want to know it right now, but we were going to wait to give you a complete narrative once we can determine the following:
1.) How many Electron Blue Corvettes featured a Light Oak Interior (still working on this). 2.) How many Corvettes (TOTAL) were exported to Europe in 2002.
I don't know that it will be possible to determine how many cars with the paint/interior combination you own were manufactured with an automatic transmission. Presently we're trying to obtain that information, but it's going to be difficult (at best) to find. Still, we will continue to dig deeper into your question with the hopes of providing you with as much information as possible.
Again, we appreciate your patience and hope this posting at least gives you some new information to consider. You definitely have one of the more unique color combinations out there - and from what I've seen of other cars with the same combo, it's a great looking car!
We will be in touch again soon!
Best Regards,
Scott & Garin - Corvette Guys
