I have a 1987 Corvette & I am in need of replacing the Ignition Switch, a $15 part, but cannot locate anything about how to go about replacing it. Mostly I have found many somewhat related articles, mostly dealing with the cylinder or VATS, but not the actual switch itself. Could use some pics & details about how someone else went about doing this. A little help will go along ways. I am new here so be kind to a non-mechanic doing their own repairs. Attachments:

Lonewolf,
First let me apologize for the delay in our response. Corvsport.com was on vacation last week so nobody was attending to the boards.
Second, we'd like to welcome you to the Corvsport.com message boards. We appreciate you joining the boards and we truly hope that we can be of assistance to you!
With regards to your ignition switch, we have the GM technical literature available to us to assist you with your repair. We will need to pull the info together and assemble it in a way where we can send it to you. We can certainly post it here as well, but it might be useful for us to simply put together a PDF document and email it to you, especially since it will contain images of how to do the repair.
If you would prefer not to receive emails, let us know and we will do our best to publish all of the information here on the message boards.
Thanks again for joining the boards. We look forward to hearing from you!
Regards,
Scott & Garin Site Owners and Developers

Scott & Garin, Thank you for reply & welcome to your site. This site is new to me but it really seems like a great site to belong to. Of course you can email me. My email is in my profile. I have replaced the Ignition Switch. Not as easy or hard as one would think once you set your mind to doing the replacement. Posting on the boards may assist other's with the same need. I have attached a recent photo of my 350ci engine which I am detailing as well as making run at top form. If I can I will attempt putting a YouTube video here that I recently put together of the Corvette & the sound of the engine. youtu.be/QvGw6cZG44MAttachments:

The ignition switch is located on top of your steering column, across from your dimmer swaitch. Best bet is to get yourself a repair manual, it will walk you through it, not real hard I had to tear apart a steering column last year to replace a turn siginal cam, just be careful , there are alot of small parts in there, never just pull something, tiny parts break easy, I learned the hard way, just a little tedious thats all
