The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), in addition to being located on the driver door sill tag, is also stamped into the vehicle's frame. It is located in one (or more) of several possible locations:
1.) Directly under the floorboard just in front of the driver's seat. 2.) On the top of the frame rail approximately where your left rear pocket would be positioned when sitting in the driver's seat. 3.) Almost directly above the drain hole in the center of the outside of the frame rail.
You may discover that the VIN is stamped multiple times in the frame. It may also be in locations other than those listed above.

I have a 62' the previous owner had rack & pinion ps installed...not knowing to retain the vin on steering column. I have located the last few stampings after the S letter. Should there be additional letters / numbers ahead of those??
